Electra Miles (Chair)
Electra Miles is a mother of three children including two sons, ages 13 & 11, and
a five-year-old daughter. As a parent volunteer, she is actively involved in Providence-St. Mel
Preparatory School, and deeply committed to teaching her own children and those in her
community about the broader world around them. Electra has been a dental assistant for thirteen
years. While pregnant with her youngest child, she testified eloquently on the need for paid
family leave before members of the Illinois General Assembly. In her "sparetime," she serves
as coordinator for her annual family reunion, and as
a volunteer with Women Employed. Electra lives with her family in Chicago's Garfield Park
neighborhood.
